Abstract

Objective:To study the action of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (sflt-1) in the pathogenesis of endometriosis (EMT),and the value of sflt-1 in the diagnosis of endometriosis.Methods:40 patients with EMT diagnosed by pathology after laparoscopy or laparotomy were randomly chosen as EMT group and 20 healthy women were as control group. The levels of VEGF and sflt-1 in serum were detected by ELISA in two groups.VEGF activity indices and ROC Area Under Curve of sflt-1 were calculated. The correlation between VEGF,sflt-1,VEGF activity indices and the classification (r-AFS),the severity of dysmenorrhea were analyzed respectively.Results:① In EMT group, the concentrations of VEGF and sflt-1 and VEGF activity indices in serum were elevated significantly compared with those in the control group(P0.01);②In EMT group, the concentrations of VEGF and VEGF activity indices in the serum were positively correlated with r-AFS and dysmenorrhea(P0.01),but a negative correlation was found between the concentrations of sflt-1 and r-AFS and dysmenorrhea(P0.01),③ The ROC Area Under Curve of sflt-1 was 0.912.Conclusions: VEGF and sflt-1 are closely related to the pathogenesis and progression of EMT.We can have a thorough knowledge of the action of VEGF on EMT by VEGF activity index.Sflt-1 is valuable to the serological diagnosis of EMT.
