This retrospective tissue microarray study examined HDAC6 expression and its association with ARID1A status across different endometriosis subtypes using archived tissue samples. The authors report expression patterns suggesting a correlation between ARID1A deficiency and HDAC6 expression, framing HDAC6’s role in processes such as protein trafficking/degradation and cell migration. A major limitation is that the work is based on tissue microarray expression data, which restricts causal interpretation. This paper is centrally about endometriosis—specifically HDAC6 expression patterns in relation to ARID1A status across endometriosis subtypes.

Abstract

Abstract

Endometriosis is a disease affecting approximately 10% of reproductive age women. Loss of the tumor suppressor gene AT-rich interactive domain-containing protein 1A (ARID1A) occurs in some endometriosis cases. Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC-6) is an enzyme with implication in several diseases including different cancer types and immunological disorders, where it is involved in protein trafficking and degradation, cell shape, and migration. In ARID1A-deficient ovarian cancer increased HDAC-6 expression lead to apoptosis-inhibiting post-tr Metrics Views Additional indexing Creators (Authors) Journal/Series Title Journal/Series Title Journal/Series Title Volume Volume Volume Page range/Item number Page range/Item number Page range/Item number Page end Page end Page end Item Type Item Type Item Type Dewey Decimal Classifikation Dewey Decimal Classifikation Dewey Decimal Classifikation Language Language Language Publication date Publication date Publication date Date available Date available Date available ISSN or e-ISSN ISSN or e-ISSN ISSN or e-ISSN OA Status OA Status OA Status Publisher DOI Related item Related item Related item Metrics Views Citations Zingg, J., Kalaitzopoulos, D.
