Abstract

Objective: To study the expression of E-ca d and MMP-2 in human adenom yosis and endometrial carcinoma and to explore the correlation between the expre ssion and pathogenesis of human adenomyosis and their biological behavior. Methods: Immunohistochemical SP method was employed to detect the expression of E-cad and MMP-2 in 30 specimens of ectopic endometri um and eutopic endometrium of ad enomyosis, 30 specimens of endometrial carcinoma and 16 specimens of normal endo metrium. Results: The expression of E-cad in ectopic en dometrium of adenomyosis and endometrial carcinoma were significantly lower than those of normal endometrium (P0.01, P0.05), and the expression of E-cad in ectopic endometrium of adenomyosis were significantly higher than that of eutopic endometrium(P0.01). The expression of MMP-2 in ectopic endom etrium of adenomyosis wer e significantly higher than those of eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium (P0.01,P0.01), and the expression of MMP-2 in endometrial carcinom a were significantly higher than those of normal endometrium (P(0.01)) . There was no significant difference between the expression of E-cad and MMP- 2 in human adenomyosis and endometrial carcinoma (P0.05). Co nclusions: The abnormal expression of E-cad and MMP-2 might be correlated with the pathogenesis of human adenomyosis and the si milar biological behavior between human adenomyosis and endometrial carcinoma.
