Monopolar coagulation of ovaries temporarily stimulates follicle growth but damages ovarian structures, leading to reduced generative and endocrine function and increased atretic follicles.

One-sentence paraphrase of the abstract; not a substitute for reading it. No clinical advice. How this works

Abstract

The research of morphofunctional changes of ovaries by monopolar coagulation has been conducted using histological techniques. It has been proved that electrocoagulation stimulates the growth of follicle for a short time but damages the generative and endocrine ovary apparatus. For a period of 3, 6 and 9 months the growing follicles haven't been found in the region of influence of coagulation, and atretical follicles are more, than in other areas of the researched ovary. That leads to depression of generative and endocrine functions.
