Strain differences in endometriosis models
This study evaluated three inbred mouse strains to determine the most suitable model for replicating the progressive fibrosis and inflammation characteristic of human endometriosis. Researchers transplanted uterine fragments into recipient mice and assessed behavioral pain responses, lesion development rates, and molecular markers for inflammation and fibrosis. The C57BL/6J strain demonstrated the highest incidence of lesions and best recapitulated the inflammatory and fibrotic processes observed in humans, outperforming BALB/c and Swiss albino mice.
