Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of B cell lymphoma/leukemia-2(Bcl-2) in uterine endometria(functional layer),the endometrial myometrial interface(EMI) and ectopic endometrium of adenomyosis. Methods The expression of Bcl-2 in functional laryer,EMI and ectopic endometrium was detected by immunohistochemistry streptavidin biotin peroxidase(SP) in 40 samples of endometria(and myometrial) with adenomyosis(20 samples at proliferative phase,20 samples at secretory phase). Results It showed that the expression of Bcl-2 in EMI endometrial glandular cells was positive at prolifertive through early secretory stage and peaked at the end of proliferative stage, but negative at late secretory stage. The expression in EMI and ectopic foci were higher than that of functional layer(P0.05).The expression in EMI at proliferative stage was higher than that of secretory stage(P0.05).The expression of Bcl-2 in glandular cells showed no difference between EMI and ectopic foci(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of Bcl-2 in ectopic glandular cells was similar with that of EMI.It showed that ectopic glandular cells in adenomyosis probably originated from EMI.
