Ventilatory status and secondary brain injuries in infants with moderate neonatal encephalopathy treated by hypothermia

Abstract

We evaluated the association between mechanical ventilation (MV) and secondary brain injury (SBI) in infants with moderate neonatal encephalopathy (NE) under therapeutic hypothermia (TH) in the first 72 hours of life. MV was not associated with SBISO. Hypotension was greater in the MV group, which had greater use of sedatives.
