Expression of ER and PR in Ectopic and Eutopic Endometrium in Patients with Endomtriosis

To study the expression of ER and PR in ectopic and eutopic endometrium in patients with endometriosis. Methods The expression of ER and PR in ectopic and eutopic endometrium were detected by immunohistochemistry SP method in 45 patients with endometriosis(study group) and in 32 patients with uterine fibroid(control group). Image dissector was used to determine corresponding density that represents its expression intensity. Results The expression of ER and PR in ectopic endometrium and the ratio of ER and PR in ectopic and eutopic endometrium are lower than that of control group(P<0.05). And they are found in proliferative phase. The expressions of ER and PR in ectopic endometrium and the expression of ER in eutopic endometrium lose the character of changing in a phase depended manner during the menstrual cycle. Conclusion The low expression of ER and PR in ectopic endometrium and the low ratio of ER and PR in ectopic and eutopic endometrium and losing the character of changing in menstrual cycle may be related to the pathogenesis of EM.
