Abstract
Architectural education has witnessed digital revolution with major change concerning design strategy, methods of teaching, and required tools. The teaching process for architectural students has to be digitized with the ability of using 3D modeling and simulation technology with the comprehensive awareness of environmental approach in their design studios. In many Egyptian Engineering Faculties modelling and simulation course is taught as a basic science course for all departments including architecture which is not effective for students in architectural department. The main purpose of this paper is to come up with a new teaching methodology of advanced modeling and simulation course which is useful for architectural students. The paper also monitors the results of teaching this course to Architectural students and examines the impact of the course on design studio projects from the year after. The case study is for teaching course during Covid-19 pandemic for the first level at architectural program at Faculty of engineering at Helwan University, Egypt. The paper uses descriptive and analytical approaches in the case study. Students in the first level of architectural department were practicing new strategy of teaching MS. The method contains an environmental and responsive approach using generic algorithms. It uses a questioner to evaluate the students' benefit from the course in addition to the noticeable impact from the department staff. some projects from the design studio the year after are selected and analyzed. The results revealed that teaching MS with the proposed method has significant impact on architectural students, especially on the design studio.
