Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the features of MRI, clinical manifests and pathological result in the patients with ovarian endometriosis. Methods 45 cases with 137 ovarian endometriosis were analyzed of MRI features retrospectively, all patients were verified by the pathology after surgery. Results 15 patients had single cyst and 30 patients had two or more cysts. 62 cysts showed high signal on T1WI and T2WI, 37 cysts showed high or mixed high and low signal on T1WI, high signal on T2WI. 21 cysts were found low signal on T1WI but high signal on T2WI. We also found small cysts around big cysts in 21 cases, 28 cysts presented as thick wall and un-defined border. Conclusions The characteristic of signal changes, big cyst with small cysts and adhesion around cysts on MRI correlates significantly with the clinical manifests and pathological diagnosis, which is a very valuable feature without invaded examination on the diagnosis of ovarian endometriosis.
