Women's experiences of living with endometriosis

Background: Endometriosis is a gynecological inflammatory disease that has a negative impact on well-being and quality of life. About 10 percent of women born with a uterus worldwide have endometriosis. Women with endometriosis often suffer from secondary dysmenorrhea, intercourse pain and chronic abdominal pain. Aim: The purpose of this study was to shed light on the patient's experience of pain inendometriosis and how it affects the woman's daily life. Method: A general literature study that was conducted with content analysis from 13 scientific articles with both qualitative and quantitative research methodology. Results: The results revealed two different main categories: The woman's pain in endometriosis and A life with endometriosis. Conclusion: The study show how endometriosis has been shown to have a major impact on many aspects of women's lives. Endometriosis affected women both physically, mentally and socially. It also seems that women who suffer from endometriosis often experienced limitations in everyday life
