Diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasonography for abdominal wall endometriosis after caesarean section

Abstract
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasonic examination for abdominal wall endometriosis after caesarean section.Methods The data of color Doppler ultrasonic examination in 22 patients with endometriosis after caesarean section identified by operation findings and pathological examination were retrospectively analyzed and compared with those by routine ultrasonic examination.Results High-frequency sonographicfeatures were that all tumors of the cases located in the various layer tissues of abdominal wall and a few infiltrated greater omentum.The tumors were 12~55 mm indiameter,irregular in shape,the margins were not defined and had spicule sign.The internal echoes were inhomogeneous and hypoechoic,and one or more small anechoic lacunae could be seen in the echoes.Color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI)showed the colorsignal pattern in all patients was point and/or linear with low-velocity(Vs5.2~19.7 cm/s)and high resistance(RI0.68~0.84)arterial flow.The follow-up by color Doppler ultrasonographyshowed that the size and echoes of the mass dynamically changed with menstrual cycle.Statistics results showed that the coincidence rate of color Doppler ultrasonography diagnosis with pathological diagnosis for abdominal wall endometriosis was 95.5%,however,which was 69.2% in routine ultrasonic examination,there was a significant difference between the two examination methods(P0.05).Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasonography combined with clinicaldata is a valuable method for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of abdominal wall endometriosis.
