Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor(PAI-1) in control endometrium, ectopic and eutopic endometrium with endometriosis. Methods Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of PAI-1 protein in 40 cases of ectopic endometrium,40 cases of eutopic endometrium and 30 cases of endometrium without endometriosis. Results PAI-1 protein was expressed in stromal and epithelial cells from control endometrium, ectopic and eutopic endometrium with endometriosis.PAI-1 protein tended to be higher from stromal cells in ectopic endometrium and control endometrium than from epithelial cells(P(0.05)),but there was no statistical difference between stromal cells and epithelial cells in eutopic endometrium(P0.05).Furthermore,the expression of PAI-1 was increased in endometriotic stromal cells compared with endometrial stromal cells(P0.05),but there was nostatistical difference in epithelial cells among control endometrium, ectopic and eutopic endometrium(P0.05).Conclusion The abnormal expression of PAI-1 protein might play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
