article OA: green CC0

Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify the prevalence of symptoms in women with endometriosis through a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study with 31 volunteers. Data collection was performed online, via WhatsApp and Instagram, using a questionnaire to characterize the participants and assess endometriosis symptoms. The mean age was 29.1 years (SD 5.0). The most prevalent symptoms were severe pain during menstruation (93.5%) and fatigue (93.5%), followed by pain during sexual intercourse (80.6%), outside the menstrual period (70.9%), and during bowel movements (64.5%). A significant impact on overall quality of life and work/study was observed, with scores between 8 and 10. It was concluded that the symptoms were frequent and had a significant impact on the participants' lives.
