Abstract

This article was migrated. The article was marked as recommended. Writing for publication is an important part of academic physicians' work life. Many physicians do not write due to time pressure, lack of confidence or skill in their writing, or other barriers. This paper addresses common barriers to writing in order to support and improve writing productivity. Specifically, we provide tips on becoming a better writer, managing time, and overcoming procrastination and writers block. We also suggest strategies for institutions to improve the writing productivity of their faculty through writing workshops, visiting writing consultants, and writing groups.
