Performance Study of HF communication using NOMA over Narrowband HF Channel

Abstract

Abstract HF systems are still important for many communication applications. Data can be sent for a long distance with low cost. One major drawback of them is their low bitrate. The aim of this paper is to increase the bit rate per HF narrowband channel using NOMA. Two parts of Data has been divided and sent for one user over two different power levels. In the receiver side these two parts Data are reorganized using NOMA technique. The results review that using NOMA in a Narrowband 3 kHz channels is reliable. Compared to the maximum rate proofed in previous works using conventional methods, the proposed method increases the rate by 45%. Combined with multichannel algorithms such as HF XL, the total increase in bit rate can be considerable. Results are validated with real experiments. The system is built on SDR plate form and tested in different channel conditions.
