Chi-square test of independence at 0.05 level of significance was used to test hypothesis of the research based on the goodness of feet obtained. Findings: revealed that cereal is the major staple food item in Kaduna Metropolis, while the aspect of environmental pollution that affecting the food type is soil/land pollution. Although cereal grains are nutritious, they do not provide the full, healthy range of nutrients. Therefore, the study recommend that citizens should be enlightened on the need to add other foods to their diets in order to avoid malnutrition. Again, the State Government are advices to formulate and effectively implement policies and programs capable of addressing the root causes of environmental pollution on staple foods in Kaduna Metropolis.
