preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
In the context of rapid e-commerce growth in Indonesia, the Tokopedia data leak incident of May 2020 underscores the pressing need for robust personal data protection mechanisms. This research explores the legal and technical dimensions of the breach, assessing its impact on consumer trust and the overall integrity of e-commerce platforms. It highlights the vulnerabilities associated with increased internet usage and the corresponding rise in data security risks. Furthermore, the study examines the challenges and opportunities in securing sensitive data, particularly in sectors like healthcare, where patient information is critical. By employing a qualitative approach to analyze consumer behavior in online purchases, particularly of electronic products, this research aims to propose effective security measures and best practices for e-commerce platforms to enhance user confidence and foster a safer digital commerce environment.
