Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression and correlation of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and the microvessel density(MVD)in endometriosis,to explore their roles in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods:The expression to COX-2,VEGF and MVD were assayed by using SP immunohistochemical method in 32 cases of eutopic endometrium,28 cases of ectopic endometrium and 40 cases of normal endometrium, the relationship of the COX-2,VEGF and MVD was analyzed. Results:(1)the expression of COX-2 and VEGF in ectopic endometrium, eutopic endometrium group obviously increased and was significantly higher than in normal group(P0.05),in ectopic endometrium group was significantly higher than in eutopic endometrium groups(P0.05).(2)the microvessel density(MVD)increased in endometriosis group and was significantly higher than in normal group(P0.05),in ectopic endometrium groups it was higher than in eutopic endometrium group(P0.05).(3)COX-2 expression was positively correlated with the expression of VEGF and MVD in endometriosis. Conclusion:Increased COX-2,VEGF expression are related to angiogenesis in endometriosis.
