Expression of MMP-1/TIMP-2 in endometrium of endometriosis in rats

Objective To study the expression of matrix metalloproteinases-1(MMP-1)/tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2(TIMP-2) in endometriosis in orde to investigate the characteristics,the relationship and influence expression of MMP-1/TIMP-2.Methods 10 healthy non-pregnant female rats were selected randomly as the blank group,without any treatment.The remaining30 were treated by transplant method to build model of endometriosis.The second laparotomy operation modeling was made after 4 weeks.Gross observation and histological examination were confirmed after the success of modeling for the eutopic endometrial tissues of 10 rats(in-group)and ectopic endometrial tissue of 10 rats(ectopic group).Results MMP-1 expression of ectopic group was higher than that of the blank group,and in-group,while their expression of TIMP-2was lower.It had statistical significance,P0.05.There was no significant difference for the low expression of MMP-1 and high expression of TIMP-2 in the blank group and in-group.Conclusion The damages of the balance of MMP-1/TIMP-2 and the abnormal expression of eutopic and ectopic endometrium in endometriosis rat models may involve in the occurrence and developmentof tissue pathology for endometriosis.
