Abstract
Arterial hypertension (AH)in women often occurs in climacteric period because of insufficient cardio-protective effects of estrogens. Depression and anxiety usually accompany neurovegetative and metabolic disorders in perimenopausal women. The article is devoted to study of prevalence and severity of depression and anxiety in preand postmenopausal women with AH and without it. For this purpose 154 women in climacteric period were examined by means of clinical and psychological methods including modified Kupperman’s index and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Our study revealed intensification of neurovegetative and metabolic features and alleviation of psycho-emotional disorders in postmenopausal women. Analysis of HADS showed prevalence of clinical anxietyin normotensive premenopausal women. Depression was more typical for hypertensive subjects however the onset of menopause was accompanied by a reduction of clinical features of depression and occurrence of its subclinical symptoms.
