Abstract

AIM:To evaluate the role of nm23-H1 gene in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.METHODS:The expression of nm23-H1 protein in 25 specimens of endometriosis and 22 specimens of normal endometrium were studied by immunohistochemical SP,while the expression of nm23-H1 mRNA in 33 specimens of endometriosis and 30 specimens of normal endometrium were further assessed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).RESULTS:The protein and mRNA expression levels of nm23-H1 in endometriosis were significantly lower than those in normal endometrium(P0.01,P0.05).CONCLUSION:nm23-H1 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.Further investigation of the role and regulatory mechanism of the nm23-H1 genes in the genesis of endometriosis may have significance in the pathogenesis, clinical diagnosis and therapy of endometriosis.
