What is Computational Psychiatry Good For?

Computational models are often used in psychiatry to identify and measure hidden processes that we hope might have clinical relevance. In other words, they can be useful when answering mechanistic questions. In this commentary we discuss an underappreciated facet of computational approaches; even if they are unable to answer a question, they can be invaluable in asking it in the first place.
