Abstract

Objective: To explore the short-term and long-term effect and safety of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS) combined with mifepristone for uterine adenomyosis. Methods: A total of 94 patients with uterine adenomyosis were randomly divided into two groups.Observation group was inserted LNG-IUS and given mifepristone once a month,6 months for a course of treatment;Control group was only inserted LNG-IUS.The short-term,the 1st,3rd and 5th year after treatment, and adverse effect were observed and compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate in observation group and control group was 91.5% and 87.2%,respectively,without significant differences(P0.05).During the 5-year follow-up,the menstrual cycle, menstruation, bleeding time between menstrual periods and incidence of irregular vaginal bleeding or bit bleeding in the observation groups were significantly lower than those in the control group with significant differences(P0.05).The rate of adverse effect in the observation group and the control group was 21.3% and 25.5%,respectively,without significant differences(P0.05).Conclusions: LNG-IUS combined with mifepristone for uterine adenomyosis can achieve good short-term and long-term effect, and reduce irregular vaginal bleeding.
