Abstract

Aim:To investigate the functions of apoptosis modulator Livin and Caspase-3 in the pathogenesis of endometriosis and the correlationship between them. Methods:A total of 30 women with endometriosis and 30 women without endometriosis were chosen. While the ectopic endometrium(Group A)and the eutopic endometrium(Group B)from the former women and the normal endometrium from the later ones were chosen as Group C.Livin and Caspase-3 were examined by immunohistochemical SP method. Results: ①The expression of Livin was significantly higher in Group A and Group B(142.55±36.27,141.69±26.61) than that in Group C(113.26±10.22),while the expression of Caspase-3 was significantly lower in Group A and Group B(118.26±11.06,121.34±10.54) than that in Group C(150.30±4.62) (F=39.25,11.34,P0.05). However, the expression of them had no significant difference between Group A and Group B. ②The expression of Caspase-3 was negatively related to Livin in Group A and Group B(r=-0.600,P0.05;r=-0.464,P0.05). ③No significant differences were found in the expression of Livin in Group A and Group C between the proliferative phase(141.63±36.69,112.01±8.93) and the secretory phase(143.75±37.16,115.13±12.07),as well as the expression of Caspase-3 between the proliferative phase and the secretory phase in group A(117.39±11.58,119.40±10.70). The expression of Caspase-3 was significantly lower in the proliferative phase (121.91±10.33) than the secretory phase(136.75±14.41) in Group C(t=-2.43,P0.05).Conclusion: The expression of Livin increases but the expression of Caspase-3 decreases in the eutopic and ectopic endometrioum of the women with endometriosis. It may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
