Abstract

Research Questions: The purpose of this research proposal is to find out what types of support would women with endometriosis want from a nurse-led service? Is there a demand for a nurse-led support service for women with endometriosis? and what types of support services would women find beneficial? Endometriosis is a gynaecological condition that affects 1 in 10 women in the UK (Endometriosis UK, 2019). It happens when endometrial issue grows out with the endometrium (Leonardi and Condous, 2020). It can lead to dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, fatigue, depression, and insomnia. From personal experience, I have saw first-hand the lack of support available to women with endometriosis, this research proposal would fill the gap in research to improve the services available to women. Methodology: A relativist, constructivist, phenomenological approach will be adopted for this research using semi-structured qualitative interviews women with endometriosis to facilitate data collection. Sampling: Purposeful sampling will be used to recruit 10-12 women online with endometriosis. These women must be over 18 years old, living in Scotland, with a recent or past diagnosis of endometriosis. Ethics: Prior to conducting the research, ethical approval will be obtained to ensure consent, protection of participants and data is maintained. Findings: It is hoped that the findings of this study will show ways in which women would benefit from a nurse-led support service, suitable to their own needs.
