HIDPS is now a required component of the security infrastructure of most companies due to the rise in frequency and severity of network attacks over the past few years. As cyberattacks are growing more complex, resulting in the need for effective intrusion detection mechanisms. Existing anomaly-based IDS and signature-based IDS have several limitations, so the researchers designed a combination of both and presented a hybrid IDS that provides a better tradeoff between the storage and computation cost with fewer false positive indications. The system must be properly comprehended, developed, and analyzed to design an efficient HIDPS. To this end, in this survey, we provide a detailed literature review that can be used to improve HIDPS. In particular, we begin with the background and fundamentals of IDS. Then we discuss the limitations of existing surveys and solutions. Furthermore, we present the possible attacks in IDS and the solutions to prevent them. Moreover, we discuss the role of AI in modern IDS systems and how it can be implemented in diverse network architectures. We also present the common issues associated with IDS and how they can be eliminated. Finally, we discuss future directions to help improve the IDS and provide a detailed analysis. My notes (saved in your browser only)

Ask this paper AI returns verbatim quotes from the full text · source: preprint-html

Answers must be backed by verbatim quotes from this paper's full text. Hallucinated quotes are dropped automatically; if no verbatim passage answers the question, we say so. How this works

Citation neighborhood (no data yet)

We don't have any in-corpus citations linked to this paper yet. This is a recent paper (2026) — citers typically take a year or two to land, and the OpenAlex reference graph may still be filling in.
