Abstract

ObjectiveTo estimate the value of MRI in the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies. MethodsEighteen patients with clinical suspicion of congenital uterine anomalies underwent MRI examination. Traditional transaxial T1 and T2 weighted images and sagittal T2 weighted images were acquired, and coronal T2 weighted images perpendicular to uterine body were obtained in 12 cases, according to the American Fertility Society's classification. ResultsThere were 1 hypoplastic uterus, 1 unicornuate uterus with a noncommunicating rudimentary horn, 4 didelphys, 7 bicornuate uterus bicollis and 5 septate uterus. MRI diagnosis was confirmed by subsequent clinical examination. ConclusionMRI is a valuable noninvasive methods in the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies.
