Therefore, different institutional, legal, and economic measures to improve environmental quality have been implemented by countries, regional, and global institutions. This research investigates the causal interplay amongst renewable energy use, education expenditure, and environmental impairment in the European Union member states for the 2000–2020 term by means of Emirmahmutoğlu and Köse (2011) causality test. The results of the causality test unravel a bidirectional causal relationship amongst renewable energy consumption and education expenditure, renewable energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and education expenditure and CO2. Our results highlight the feedback interplay amongst educational expenditures, renewable energy use, and CO2 emissions.
