Abstract

Objective To understand the MRI findings of normal uterus in reproductive age female during different stages, and to select the optimal inspection time for patients, so as to gain the more accurate MRI findings of normal uterus. Methods Thirty healthy volunteers of reproductive age, all with regular menstrual cycles, underwent uterine MRI scanning with high resolution T2 WI sequence in the menstrual phase(the first day of menstrual cycle), the proliferative phase(the 14 thday of menstrual cycle) and the secretory phase(the 28 th day of menstrual cycle). The thickness of uterine junctional zone and signal features of myometrium in different physiological cycles were analyzed. Results The thickness of uterine junctional zone were decreased from menstrual phase and proliferative phase to secretory phase, while the signal intensity of myometrium were increased from menstrual phase and proliferative phase to secretory phase. In menstrual phase, the uterine junctional zone showed symptoms of similar adenomyosis, the layers of uterus in secretory phase were clearer than those in the other two phases. Conclusions The layers structures of uterus can be distinguished clearly in secretory phase. Patients should undergo MRI scanning in secretory phase, which can improve the diagnostic accuracy of uterine diseases.
