This review article discusses the potential association between endometriosis and an increased risk of ovarian cancer, particularly clear cell and endometrioid subtypes. It references a large population-based cohort study conducted by Dutch researchers to evaluate whether women with endometriosis are disproportionately affected by these specific malignancies. The text highlights that while estimates suggest approximately 176 million women globally suffer from endometriosis, the precise nature of its link to ovarian cancer remains a subject of ongoing scientific investigation. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically examining its epidemiological relationship with ovarian cancer risk.
