Abstract
Two cases of cyclic sciatica were caused by endometriosis. Both patients gave histories of progressive sciatic pain aggravated at the onset of menses and lasting for several days following menses, but only one had palpable evidence of pelvic endometriosis. The "pocket sign" present in both of these cases appeared pathognomonic for the disease process. A complete menstrual history and its relation to sciatic pain in all premenopausal women is mandatory. The relative paucity of cases reported might not reflect the true incidence of this disease. The treatment of choice is considered bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.
