Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of melatonin on cytokines and nature kill cells in endometriosis rat models. Methods Rats were randomly divided into four groups, including normal control group(n=10), model control group(n=10), melatonin group 1(melatonin 2 mg/kg, n=10) and 2(melatonin 4 mg/kg, n=10). The endometriosis rat models were induced by surgical implantation. At the end of the experiment, the levels of serum TNF- α , IL- 6 , IL- 8 and the activity of nature kill cells were measured. Result The levels of serum TNF- α , IL- 6 and IL- 8 in melatonin group 1 and 2 were lower than those in the model control group, the activity of nature kill cells in spleen of melatonin groups rose more significantly than that in the model control group. Conclusion Melatonin may have the therapeutic effect on the endometriosis by down- regulating the activities of serum TNF- α , IL- 6, IL- 8 and up- regulating the activity of nature kill cells in spleen in endometriosis rat model.
