Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship between gene polymorphisms of estrogen receptor α(ERα) and ERβ and endometriosis susceptibility. Methods Polymorphisms of ERα and ERβ gene were assessed by analysis of polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism in 58 patients with endometriosis and 107 patients without endometriosis served as controls. Results The frequencies of genotype ERα PvuⅡ(pp,Pp,PP) were 34.5% vs 30.8%,48.3% vs 58.9%,15.5% vs 9.3% and those of XbaⅠxx,Xx,XX were 56.9% vs 59.8%,32.8% vs 37.4%,8.6% vs 1.9% in patients with endometriosis and in controls, respectively.ERβ genotype frequencies of AluⅠaa,Aa,AA were 0% vs 0%,19.0 % vs 25.2%,81.0% vs 74.8% and those of RsaⅠrr,Rr,RR were 20.7% vs 11.2%,32.8% vs 42.1%,46.6% vs 46.7% in the patients with endometriosis and in controls, respectively. There was no significant difference in polymorphism of either PvuⅡand XbaⅠof ERα gene or AluⅠand RsaⅠof ERβ gene between patients with endometriosis and controls(P0.05).Conclusins No relationship is found between ERα and ERβ gene polymorphism and susceptibility to endometriosis.
