Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical significance of NovaSure endometrial resection in the treatment of menorrhagia caused by adenomyosis. Methods 29 patients treated with NovaSure endometrial resection were selected as study group while 27 cases treated with hysteroscopic transcervical resection of endometrium were selected as control group from March 2012 to June 2013 in Panyu District Central Hosipital. All the cases were with a postoperative regular follow- up,on the basis of pictorial blood loss assessment chart( PBAC) to assess the condition of preoperative bleeding, operation time, quantity of blood loss during operation, postoperative amenorrhoea rate, decrement rate of menstruation, and improvement rate of menstruation. Results The operation time in the study group was significantly shorter than that in control group, the quantity of blood loss during operation in the study group were significantly less than that in control group( P 0. 05). No statistical significance were found in the differences of the postoperative complication rate and the total effective rate between two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion NovaSure endometrial resection is an effective method in the treatment of menorrhagia caused by adenomyosis.
