He has theorized about various philosophical issues, and as a result of this, he has been the focus of researchers. The aim of this study is to systematically understand the researches done on Fārābī's philosophy. Method : The bibliometric method of the study is by searching related keywords in the Scopus database, and they limited from 2000 to 2023. Furthermore, after receiving the export from Scopus, these data are analyzed in VOSviewer (version 1.6.20). Results : Among 302 scientific documents, most of them were articles then book chapters, and most of them were done in English. Since 2015, the research on Fārābī's philosophy has increased, and its peak will be observed in 2020 and 2023. In addition, the United States of America, Kazakhstan, and Iran were the active countries, and according to journals, Arabic Sciences and philosophy and Oriens were the active journals in this field. Chatti, Saloua and Forcada, Miquel were the most active authors according to number of documents, and Adamson, Peter was the first according to citations. In terms of the number of citations, the top ten documents all have more than 25 citations. It should be noted that, the keywords of Al-Fārābī, Al-Farabi, and Avicenna were the bold keywords in studies. Conclusion : The research on Fārābī's philosophy is limited and requires researchers to examine different aspects of Fārābī's philosophy. In Fārābī's philosophy, issues related to the philosophy of law, political philosophy, peace studies, and even economic philosophy can be extracted. Philosophy Al-Fārābī Fārābī's Philosophy Bibliometric Analysis Scopus Figures Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4 Figure 5 Figure 6 Figure 7 Figure 8 Figure 9 1. Introduction The truth is Al-Fārābī is one of the great philosopher in the Islamic world and even in the world, and some scholars believe that he is the founder of Islamic Philosophy (See Davari Ardakani, 1977). In addition, although he was a great commentator on Aristotle's works, but his background "was not so much Aristotle himself" (Hodges& Anne Druart, 2023). In other words, he was an independent philosopher and he provided a new intellectual system of thought and a philosophical school. As a matter of fact, both theoretical and practical philosophy play a significant role in his philosophy, and these two philosophies are not separated from each other in Fārābī's views. If we look at Fārābī's works such as Kitāb al-Millah , Siāsat al-Madania , and Ara Ahl al Madina al F ā dilah , we can see that he discussed both theoretical and practical wisdom (Farabi, 1991; Farabi, 1979; Farabi, 1995). In addition to his theoretical wisdom's views such as cosmological views and theological views, which have always been of interest to researchers, and numerous studies have been conducted about these issues (e.g. see Janos, 2009; Menn, 2021), the issues related to practical wisdom have always been significant in Fārābī's thought, and numerous researches have been conducted from different aspects on various issues in Fārābī's practical philosophy. For instance, Macarimbang (2013) and Azerbayev& Nurmanbetova (2016) have studied about Fārābī's virtuous city, Birdisli (2019) wrote a paper about Fārābī's political philosophy and the Logic of the integration and solidarity in the international area. Moreover, a number of fundamental concepts can be extracted from Fārābī's philosophy such as economics and peace, and some researches in these subjects in Fārābī's views have been done by Maftouni (2022) and Azarkasb& Maftouni (2023). It can be claimed that due to the fact that Fārābī, as the founder of Islamic philosophy and also an influential philosopher with numerous works, has a system of thought that can be examined from different sides, and researches have always been conducted about these sides. It can therefore be argued that, it is necessary to conduct a systematic review of the researches conducted on Fārābī's philosophy. Because it will be a milestone for researchers who want to research Fārābī in the future. 2. Methodology This study composed from three major steps: Data extraction; Data screening; and bibliometric analysis. 2.1 Search Strategy and Selected Database The Scopus Database was selected for conducting this study and we were doing data extraction with a number of keywords on 27 March 2024. This scientific database contains a wide range scientific documents (Sweileh, 2019; Dash& Kalamdhad, 2021). As a matter of fact, Scopus contains many journals in different fields (Sweileh, 2018). The main reason that this database was selected is the vast paper about humanities and social sciences will be found in Scopus rather than Web of Science (Kumpulainen& Seppänen, 2022). 2.2 Bibliometric Search Analysis For conducting bibliometric search and data extraction, we used from these keywords: ("Al-Farabi" OR "Farabi" OR "Avinasr" OR "Abu Nasr al-Farabi" OR "Abu Nasr Muhammad al-Farabi" (Topic)) AND ("Philosophy" OR "Logic" OR "Ethics" OR "Moral Philosophy" OR "Virtue Ethics" OR "Islamic Philosophy" OR "Islamic Theology" OR "Metaphysics" OR "Epistemology" OR "Ontology" OR "Utopia" OR "Virtuous City" OR "Political Philosophy" OR "Philosophy of Law" OR "Legal Studies" OR "Islamic Studies" OR "Islam*" OR "Sharia" OR "Mysticism" OR "Prophet" OR "Avicenna" OR "Plato" OR "Aristotle" OR "Al-Ghazali" OR "Suhrawardi" OR "Mulla Sadra" OR "Jurisprudence" OR "Islamic Jurisprudence" OR "Islamic Law" OR "Legal Doctrine" OR "Art" OR "Economics" OR "Economic Philosophy". After this search, 326 documents found. In addition, our bibliometric search contains article, book chapter, review, and book, with source types of journal, book, and book series. Moreover, this bibliometric analysis was limited between 2000 to 2023 and contains many documents with different languages (English, French, Spanish, Turkish, Persian, Russian, Italian, Malay, Arabic, Portuguese, Lithuanian, German, Ukrainian, Serbian, Croatian). Finally, 302 documents were remained for this study. 2.3 Selection of Software Tools This study was conducted by several different tools. For bibliometric analysis, VOSviewer (version 1.6.20) was used. It is worth noting that VOSviewer is a free software for conducting bibliometric analysis (Eck& Waltman, 2010). Furthermore, Microsoft Visio (Micro-soft Inc., Redmond, WA, USA) was used for drawing flowchart, and Microsoft Excel was used for drawing charts. 3. Results and Discussion 3.1 Subject Areas According to our search with related keywords about Al-Fārābī's philosophy and thought, the vast number of articles are divided into two categories (arts and humanities (256) and social sciences (114)). It should be noted that some documents are the common in these two categories (e.g. Booth, 2021; Tohis, 2022; López-Farjeat& Ganem Gutiérrez, 2023). 3.2 Types of documents and Languages This review contains article with high percentage 60% (182 documents), book chapter with percentage of 21% (63), review 15% (44), and book as a fewest number of documents according to these four categories 4% (13). These percentages can be seen in the fig.2. As can be seen in the fig. 3. The vast majority of researches were done in English with 245 documents. Following this, French with 15, Spanish with 12, Turkish with 10, and Persian with 9 documents. Other documents in other languages are between 1 to 7 documents. 3.3. Documents Per Year As can be seen in fig. 4. The publication number about Al-Fārābī had an upward trend in the given year. A noticeable upward trend can be seen after 2014 and this trend was continuing to 2023 and reached the pick up between the years with 35 publications in the year. It should be mentioned that the publication number in 2020 was also high with 34 publications. We strongly believe that Fārābī's philosophy includes various aspects such as social, political, legal, and economics and if these aspects are known more, the research trend about Fārābī's philosophy will also increase in the future. 3.4. Analyze of Countries From 56 countries which conducted these researches, 18 countries met the thresholds with minimum 3 documents and 3 citations. As can be seen in table 1, The United States of American is the active countries among countries with 57 documents. In addition, this country has the highest rate in citations with 350 and has the highest link with other countries with 7 link strength. Following them, Kazakhstan and Iran was the second and third place with 23 and 22 scientific documents, respectively, while Iran has 50 citations and Kazakhstan has 18 citations. Both Kazakhstan and Iran has 1 link strength. Although the United Kingdom and Turkey has 17 documents, the UK has 122 citations and 4 link strength, but Turkey has 10 citations without link strength. Following them, France and Italy with 15 and 14 documents respectively and has 65 and 17 citations and 4 and 2 respectively. Canada, Spain, and Tunisia has 9 documents with 62, 30, and 20 citations respectively. In addition to what we mentioned, among these three countries just Canada has 1 link strength, but Spain and Tunisia has no link strength with other countries. Table 1 Countries Documents Citations Total Link Strength 1 USA 57 350 7 2 Kazakhstan 23 18 1 3 Iran 22 50 1 4 United Kingdom 17 122 4 5 Turkey 17 10 0 6 France 15 65 4 7 Italy 14 17 2 8 Canada 9 62 1 9 Spain 9 30 0 10 Tunisia 9 20 0 According to fig. 5. The USA has the most documents and link strength among countries. There are 4 clusters in this map. Cluster 1: Australia, Iran, and the United States. Cluster 2: France, Italy, Switzerland. Cluster 3: Canada, Germany, and Mexico. Cluster 4: Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. 3.5. Contribution of Journals Based on table 2, Arabic Sciences and Philosophy is the first according to number of documents, citations, and link strength with cite score 0.8. This journal published articles about Al-Fārābī's thought (e.g Mattila, 2017; Mensia, 2017). In addition to this journal, Oriens is also active, and 9 papers were published in this journal (e.g Amin, 2020; Laywine, 2023). Additionally, this journal was third according to citations (37) and with 0.7 cite score. It is worth noting that, the book of Cambridge Companion to Medieval Logic published by Cambridge University Press have 117 citations and is the second place according to citations. Some book chapters by Chaumont (2016), Hasnawi& Hodges (2016), El-Rouayheb (2016), and Strobino& Thom (2016) were published in this book. In addition, the Cambridge University Press was the active publisher in this field. Following Chatti, Forcada is the second place with 6 number of scientific documents and 33 citations (e.g. see Forcada, 2020; Forcada, 2023). It is worth noting that, Peter Adamson has the most citation among the authors with 100 citations. According to his works, "The Cambridge companion to Arabic philosophy" by Adamson& Taylor (2004) has 81 citations according to citations in Scopus. Based on fig. 6. We can see a limited link between authors. Oshanova et al. (has a research paper titled "Methods and techniques of formation of arithmetic musical competence in students", and they discussed about form the arithmetic musical competency of students according Al-Fārābī's view (2022). Doskozhanova et al. (2016) discussed about Al-Fārābī's political philosophy and Plato's utopia, and Watt& Lössl (2013) discussed about the Alexandrian commentary tradition between Rome and Baghdad and they have mentioned Fārābī. 3.7. Most Cited Documents After setting number of 5 as a minimum citation of each document for our analyze, 54 of them were appeared from 302 scientific documents. It should be noted that the keywords "philosophy" and "Al-Fārābī" are in cluster 2, and the keyword "Al-Farabi" is in cluster 4. Cluster 1 (Red: 12 Items): The keywords in this cluster are related to religion and religion's schools such as "Al- Mu'tazila" and "Al- Ash'ari". The most important keyword in this cluster is "Islam" with 27 links with other keywords. For instance, the keywords "religion" and "science" which are shown in this cluster were used by Forcada (2023). Cluster 2 (Green: 12 Items): The most occurrences keywords such as "philosophy" and "Al-Fārābī" are in this category. This cluster is related to Al-Farabi and even other philosophers and scholars. For example, Parvizian (2021) used "Al-Ghazali" and the keyword of "philosophy" was used by Diagne (2020). Cluster 3 (Blue: 11 Items): Many keywords such as "Metaphysics", "Ontology", and "epistemology" are in this cluster. It seems that this cluster about Farabi's metaphysics and Farabi's epistemology. In addition to what we mentioned, the keyword of "politics" is in this category and as a result of this, this cluster in addition to relating with metaphysics, ontology, and epistemology, is related to Farabi's political philosophy. For example, the keywords "Metaphysics" and "Ontology" were used by Saeedimehr (2019), and "politics" was used by Ali (2023). Cluster 4 (Yellow: 10 Items): The various keywords such as "Plato", "Aristotle", "Neoplatonism", "Logic", and "Civilization" are in this cluster. It seems that this cluster is related to comparison between Farabi and ancient philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle and is related to the philosophical sources of Al-Farabi. The keyword "Plato" was used by Ali (2023) and Alexandrov (2023). In addition, Alexandrov (2023) also use the keyword "Aristotle". Cluster 5 (Purple: 9 Items): It seems that, this cluster is related to ethical issues and some issues about genders. As can be seen in fig.8. the keywords of "human". Cluster 6 (Light Blue: 6 Items): As can be seen, the keywords "Al-Kindi", "Avicenna", and "Ibn Sina" are in this cluster. Raeisi et al. (2022) in their article used "Al-Kindi" and "Ibn Sina" as keywords. 5. Conclusion and Recommendations for the Future Studies In this study, 302 scientific documents extracted from Scopus were systematically reviewed using VOSviewer. Subject Areas, types of documents and languages, documents per year, countries, journals, authors, citations, and keywords were analyzed. According to results, it can be claimed that although the topic of philosophy of Al-Fārābī is a significant and this philosopher plays a fundamental role in the history of philosophy, but the research about his philosophy is still limited. Only some journals pay attention to Fārābī's philosophy and research about Fārābī is done in limited countries. In other phrases, Fārābī is known for being a philosopher in the history of philosophy, not for adapting his ideas to today's issues. It can therefore be argued that, our suggestion to researchers is to research different sides of Fārābī's philosophy. Issues related to the philosophy of law, political philosophy, moral philosophy, peace studies, and economic theories can be taken from his philosophy, and it is appropriate for researchers to investigate him from these angles. Introduction

The truth is Al-Fārābī is one of the great philosopher in the Islamic world and even in the world, and some scholars believe that he is the founder of Islamic Philosophy (See Davari Ardakani, 1977). If we look at Fārābī's works such as Kitāb al-Millah, Siāsat al-Madania, and Ara Ahl al Madina al Fādilah, we can see that he discussed both theoretical and practical wisdom (Farabi, 1991; Farabi, 1979; Farabi, 1995).

References

Adamson, P., & Taylor, R. He has theorized about various philosophical issues, and as a result of this, he has been the focus of researchers. The aim of this study is to systematically understand the researches done on Fārābī's philosophy.

Method: The bibliometric method of the study is by searching related keywords in the Scopus database, and they limited from 2000 to 2023. Furthermore, after receiving the export from Scopus, these data are analyzed in VOSviewer (version 1.6.20).

Results: Among 302 scientific documents, most of them were articles then book chapters, and most of them were done in English.

Conclusion: The research on Fārābī's philosophy is limited and requires researchers to examine different aspects of Fārābī's philosophy. In Fārābī's philosophy, issues related to the philosophy of law, political philosophy, peace studies, and even economic philosophy can be extracted.

A Bibliometric Analysis of the Research Trends on Different Philosophical Aspects of Al-Fārābī Between 2000 to 2023
