Abstract
Objective: To explore the expression of hepatocyte growth factor(HGF) and its receptor(c-Met) and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)in the eutopic endometrium of endometriosis and the relationship among them in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods: The Streptavidin-Peroxidase(SP)immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of HGF,c-Met and MMP-2 in the eutopic endometrium of 45 women with pelvic endometriosis and 30 controls. Results: The expressions of HGF,c-Met and MMP-2 were higher in the eutopic endometrium of patients with pelvic endometriosis than in those in controls with significant differences(all P(0.01).) Positive correlations were observed among these markers in the endometrium of women with and without endometriosis(all P0.01).Conclusion: The high expression of HGF,c-Met and MMP-2 in the eutopic endometrium of patients with pelvic endometriosis may be involved in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
