Abstract
found in a colony of 3S females, which had under-gone in the past X-ray treatment or one or more Caesarean sections and/or one or more treatments with gonadal steroids. Incidence, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, histology and treatment are described. Endometriosis is the presence of viable endo-metrium in ectopic sites outside the uterine cavity. It occurs only in those species which menstruate, namely primates (King, 1978). In our colony of 35 female rhesus monkeys 9 cases of endometriosis were found. Incidence, pathogenesis, clinical features, pathological signs and treatment are presented in this paper. Materials and methods 35 female rhesus monkeys were involved in this study.
