Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical value of laparoscopic operation in the treatment of the broad ligament myoma. Methods A retrospective comparison was made on clinical data between 25 patients who had received laparoscopic enucleation of the broad ligament myoma and 15 patients who had received traditional open resection in the same period. Results Both laparoscopic and traditional operations were successfully completed without complication. As compared with open surgery, the laparoscopic surgery had longer operative time [(101.20±10.44)min vs(59.33±10.83)min,P=0.000],and more blood loss [(91.40±12.04]mL vs(76.67±11.29)mL,P=0.000],more early out of bed [(13.48±1.33)h vs(26.27±1.49)h,P=0.000],but less the anal exsufflation time [(17.40±2.22)h vs(35.0±2.90)h,P=0.000],less intravenous antibiotics days [(3.26±0.62)d vs(5.67±0.90)d,P=0.000] and less hospital stay time postoperative [(4.88±1.01)d vs(6.27±0.96)d,P=0.000].Conclusion Laparocopic nucleation of the broad ligament myoma is safe, effective and minimal invasion, offers a rapid postoperative recovery if the operator have skilled laparoscope techniques.
