Abstract
Objective: To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in ectopic and eutopic endometrium in patients with endometrios, and its role in thepathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods: VEGF concentrations in women with EM and without were measured with ELISA.Immunochemical method was used to determine the expression of VEGF in proliferative phase and secretive phase of ectopic and eutopic endometrium from patientswith EM and the endometrium of controls.Microvessel density(MVD) was evaluated by using anti factorⅧ-related antigen(F8-RA) antibodytomark stromal microvessels.Result: The expression rate of VEGFwas persistently higher in ectopic endometrium and eutopic endometrium than that of control group(P0.01),.The microvessel density(MVD) was markedly higher in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium ofendometriosis than that in the controlgroup(P0.05).Conclusion:The increased VEGF expression in the endometriosis indicates thatVEGF,by promoting the angiogenesis, plays an important role in the occurrence and developmentofendometriosis.
