Abstract
Objective To investigate and analyse the expression of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),matrix metalloproteinase-2 and-9(MMP-2 and MMP-9) in endometrial polyps from premenopausal and postmenopausal women.Methods choose each 30 premenopausal and postmenopausal endometrium polyps diagnosed by pathology after hysteroscopic biopsy in gynecology department of our hospital during Jan,2006 – Jun,2009.Choose postmenopausal normal endometrium as contral group.Immunoahistochamical analysis for COX-2,MMP-2 and MMP-9 were performed on formalin fixed,paraffin-embedded tissue using GnRHR technique.Rusults In both epothellial cells and stroma of premenopausal polys the expression of COX-2 was significantly higer compared to postmenopausal polys.(P0.05).There was no other differences in the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the epothellial cells of premenopausal and postmenopausal polys(P 0.05).Stromal expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in premenopausal polys were significantly higher than in postmenopausal.Conslusion Both polys of premenopause and postmenopause express COX-2,MMP-2,MMP-9 in epothium and stroma.Immunohistochemical expression of these markers mey be in?enced by the ststus of menopause.This result may suggest that these proteins play some roles in the formation of endometrial polyps.
