This category primarily includes obesity, diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and metabolic syndrome, whose rising global prevalence poses a substantial public health burden. Chlorogenic acid, a naturally occurring phenolic compound widely found in coffee, tea, and medicinal plants, has recently drawn considerable research interest due to its multifaceted pharmacological properties, including the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism, attenuation of oxidative stress, and suppression of inflammatory responses. This review systematically summarizes the roles and underlying mechanisms of chlorogenic acid in the management of various metabolic diseases. Existing evidence indicates that chlorogenic acid exerts beneficial effects in ameliorating obesity, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension. The proposed mechanisms are primarily attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, modulation of gut microbiota composition, and protective effects on target organs.
