Abstract

Objectives: The subject of obstetrical complications linked to endometriosis is still highly debated around the world. Most of the literature demonstrates an existence of a major risk of complications in case of endometriosis. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of obstetrical complications (caesarean section, retroplacental hematoma, uterine revision, perineal tear, premature delivery) in women with endometriosis at the Couple Enfant Hospital (HCE) in Grenoble. Methods: This study was conducted at allowed for the extraction of 95 medical records of endometriosis patients who gave birth at HCE between January 2015 and December 2022. Results: Women with endometriosis have a higher risk than the general population of having a caesarean section, delivering prematurely, developing a retroplacental hematoma, and undergoing uterine revision during childbirth. Conclusion: Obstetrical complications were more frequently found in women with endometriosis than in the general population. Nevertheless, no statistical association could be established between the different phenotypes of endometriosis and these complications.
