preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
Emotion coaching strategies support the well-being of children and young people. It is relational-based approach which is mediated by an adult-child relationship, and it aims to support children and young people to identify and understand their emotions, why they occur and how to support them. At present, most studies on emotion coaching are in relation to parenting. This systematic review protocol aims to evaluate the literature on emotion coaching in classrooms. This review will aim to identify whether emotion coaching is being implemented as a technique between school staff and pupils, how effective it is, what methodologies are being used to evaluate emotion coaching in classrooms, with which populations are such evaluations being carried out with, and if there are any barriers to implementing emotion coaching in classrooms. Literature search findings will be screened by following the PRISMA extension for systematic reviews (2018) and evaluated based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and influenced by the critical appraisal skills programme (CASP) checklist.
