Effects of PKF 115–584 on cell proliferation.
This in vitro study investigated the effects of PKF 115–584, a small-molecule antagonist of the Tcf/ß-Catenin complex, on cell proliferation in endometrial and endometriotic tissues. The researchers compared basal proliferation rates and the percent inhibition induced by the drug between epithelial and stromal cells from patients with deep infiltrating, ovarian, and superficial peritoneal endometriosis and their matched eutopic endometrium. Results indicated that the compound significantly inhibited cell proliferation in both tissue types across different menstrual phases, with statistically significant differences observed when comparing diseased tissue to healthy controls. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically examining the inhibitory effect of a Wnt pathway antagonist on proliferative activity in various forms of the disease.
