Abstract
Objective To explore the short-term curative effects of uterine arterial embolization(UAE) on adenomyosis and the application of transabdominal color Doppler to the follow-up surveys. Methods 21 cases of adenomyosis confirmed by clinical, color Doppler and MRI examinations received UAE and follow-up surveys were conducted through color Doppler in the 1st,3rd,6th and 9th month after the intervention. Results According to the 9 months of follow-up surveys, the total effective rate of treating menorrhagia was 100%,and the obvious effective rate was 80.9%.Menstruation restored to normal in 5 cases in 6~9 months.Other cases got mproved to some extent. The HB values restored to normal in all cases. The major side effects of UAE were pains of different degree in lower abdomen, fever, bladder irritation and small amount of uterine bleeding in some cases. The surveys through color Doppler showed that the lesion parts of uterus shrank by 47.84% and the lesion shrank by 55.99% 6~9 months after the treatment. The indexes of mean velocity, resistance index, pulsatility index and color Doppler energy revealed great reduction of blood flow in the lesions and the lesion part of uterus. There existed significant difference before and after the treatments(P0.01).Conclusion UAE can produce satisfactory short-term curative effects and transabdominal color Doppler can be effectively used in follow-up surveys.
