Takotsubo Syndrome in the Setting of Eclampsia
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
A 36-year-old female presented with an eclamptic seizure at 36-weeks-gestation. She had an emergent cesarean section, complicated by cardiogenic shock. Although peripartum cardiomyopathy was the initially assumed etiology, echocardiography demonstrated that the underlying cardiac pathology was Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. This impacted the management and expected prognosis for recovery.
