Abstract

In vitro motion stimulation of the hip-joint prosthesis helps predict the critical parameters of the products more realistically than in silico investigations. For the joint prosthesis, Wear, the size of debris, fatigue life, and range of motion are some of the essential parameters to investigate. This study designs and develops a hip joint wear simulator using novel approaches. The simulator dynamics were modeled. The forces are calculated from the dynamic loading used for weight optimization, which reduces the forces acting on each joint and improves the quality of the motion transferred to the femoral head. The concept design compared with the topology-optimized shape, gravitational and dynamic forces due to the arm weights.
