Abstract
Objective To investigate the pathological features of the adherent pelvic peritoneum in patients with tubal infertility. Methods A total of 163 cases were studied by light microscopy. Results Among 163 cases, there were 36 cases (22.09%) companied with the lesions of the secondary Mullerian system, which included endosalpingiosis (11.7%), endometriosis (9.82%) and 1 case of serousborderline tumor. Psammoma bodies were present in 8.59% of the cases. There were 31.29% with hyperplasia of peritoneal mesothelial cells and 69.32% with active inflammatory lesions. The incidence of lesions of the secondary Mullerian system was not related with active inflammatory lesions (p0.05), but mesothelial hyperplasia was related with active inflammatory lesions (p0.05). Conclusion The adherent pelvic peritoneum resulted from salpingtis may associate with mesothelial hyperplasia and metaplastic lesions of the secondary Mullerian system, which must be differentiated from mesothelial neoplasms or secondary tumors.
