Abstract
Objective:To investigate insulin-like growth factor I(IGF-I) and insulin-like growth factor I receptor(IGF-IR) which are distributed and expressed in eutopic and ectopic endometria from adenomyosis patients,by this way,and explore mechanisms of occurrence sustainance and invasion of adenomyosis. Methods: Tissue specimens of eutopic and ectopic endometria were obtained from 20 patients with adenomyosis.22 specimens of the normal endometrium served as controls. They were tested for the distribution and expression of IGF-I and IGF-IR by immunohistochemical analysis. Results: It was demonstrated that IGF-I and IGF-IR were present in normal, ectopic and oeutopic endometrial tissue. For IGF-I,the immunostaining score was higher in ectopic endometrial tissue. Conclusion: IGF-I could possibly taken part in mechanisms of development and sustainance of adenomyosis.
